Jilin province's first grid-forming energy storage station has been connected to the grid and put into operation.
The Baisha energy storage station, a 100MW/200MWh grid-forming project developed by Songyuan Energy Group in Changling county, Songyuan city, was successfully synchronized to the grid on August 29. The project was approved by the Jilin Provincial Energy Administration in 2024 as a provincial demonstration project.
The station's advanced design is reflected in its core technical indicators and system integration. The storage system comprises 20 units of 5MW/10MWh, totaling 100MW/200MWh.
Every five sub-systems are connected in parallel on the 35kV AC side to form one collector line, with four 35kV collector lines in total. The station is equipped with one 120MVA main transformer, stepping up voltage to 220kV and connecting via a single line to the 220kV side of the Longfeng 500kV substation.
The station will improve the regional power system, boost renewable energy integration and strengthen grid resilience. It is expected to reduce curtailed renewable energy by 60 GWh annually, significantly improving the utilization of renewable resources.
