China's listed firms post 5,558 total by end-Aug, strategic emerging sectors account for 60%

China's listed companies totaled 5,558 by Aug 31, with strategic emerging industries and high-tech manufacturing accounting for 60% of the total, according to a semi-annual operating performance report released by the China Association for Public Companies. In 2026, 102 companies made new initial public offerings, with the ChiNext, STAR Market and Beijing Stock Exchange accounting for 82%, mainly concentrated in electronics and machinery equipment sectors. A total of 21 companies were delisted, with two-thirds from the Shanghai and Shenzhen main boards, including four forced delistings for major violations, 13 for financial reasons and one voluntary delisting.
