Lubei Railway Logistics Park in Shandong province has shifted into high-gear coal logistics operations, with automated equipment enabling rapid unloading of coal trains.

The park, located in Lijin county, Dongying city, can unload a 3,400-tonne Xinjiang coal train in just three hours, with each unloading cycle handling over 100 tonnes of coal in 40 seconds.

The park spans a planned area of about 3,528 mu (2.35 square km) with total investment of 6 billion yuan, of which the first phase covers 1,261 mu with investment of 2.14 billion yuan. Construction began in July 2020, and the park officially opened on September 19, 2022, with its first China-Europe freight train departing the same day.

The logistics park connects to Dongying port via the port railway line, linking the Huangda and Deda railways, while major highways converge in the area, creating an integrated road-rail-sea multimodal transport network.

The park focuses on bulk commodity storage and multimodal transport for coal, petrochemicals and building materials, with five functional zones including cargo handling, specialized warehousing and processing services.

For coal operations, the park uses twin rotary car dumpers that can unload two railcars simultaneously, handling 120 tonnes per operation. Combined with 500,000-tonne coal storage facilities, over 90 new energy heavy trucks and self-designed loading equipment, the park achieves seamless coal transshipment between rail and road networks.

As the only logistics park in northern Shandong connected to both the national railway and national energy transport systems, the park handled over 3 million tonnes of cargo in 2025, with revenue and profits steadily rising.

The park has established partnerships with companies including Lihuayi Group, Jinling Chemical and Daming Thermal Power, serving nearly 50 upstream and downstream clients, with coal operations in Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia now running on a regular basis with one-stop delivery to end users.
