The onshore yuan appreciated more than 0.4% against the U.S. dollar in August, repeatedly hitting fresh multi-year highs during the month. On Aug 31, the yuan closed at 6.7198 against the dollar at 16:30, up 6 basis points from the previous trading day. Over the full month, the onshore yuan strengthened from 6.7476 at end-July to 6.7198 at end-August, accumulating a gain of over 0.4%.
