Hunan province's cumulative external power sales reached 6.03 TWh as of August 18, up 152.13% year on year, according to State Grid News.

Medium- and long-term external sales accounted for 3.44 TWh, while spot, ancillary services and inter-provincial mutual assistance sales totaled 2.59 TWh.

Abundant inflows this year have put pressure on clean energy consumption in Hunan. State Grid Hunan Electric Power Co., Ltd. has conducted rolling assessments of new energy consumption, held training sessions on external power trading rules and guided market participants to engage in sales across multiple trading cycles and product types.

External power sales now cover six provinces spanning central China, southwest China and the China Southern Power Grid service area.

This year, State Grid Hunan first utilized the Jiangcheng DC transmission project for medium- and long-term power sales to Guangdong across grid service areas, and completed its first medium- and long-term external sale to Xizang autonomous region, expanding consumption space for provincial clean energy. Maximum external delivery capacity reached 4.07 GW.

The company aims to flexibly respond to national supply-demand shifts, maintain trading organization and ensure full-year external sales reach 8 TWh, targeting 10 TWh.
