The Vladivostok Sea Fishing Port (VSFP), one of Russia's largest multipurpose harbors, will cease all coal transshipment operations to improve air quality and quality of life for city residents, shareholder and former Primorsky Krai governor Sergey Darykin announced recently.

The decision brings an end to a significant, albeit non-core, part of the port's business. The facility was processing roughly 100,000 tonnes of coal per month. Darykin stated the move was made for the benefit of our city's residents and to enhance their quality of life, according to TASS.

While the coal operations are being phased out, the port will remain a versatile logistics hub. The company's press service confirmed that VSFP will continue to provide transshipment services for other cargo, including dry and refrigerated containers, automobiles, and general freight. Total cargo turnover at the port increased by 18% in the first seven months of 2026 compared to the same period last year.
