Russia's coal production fell for a second consecutive month in July 2026, declining 6.3% from June to 32.75 million tonnes, the lowest level since September 2025, according to data from the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat). Output was up 3.8% year on year, the data showed.

The Siberian Federal District accounted for 63% of Russia's July coal output, producing 20.77 million tonnes, down 3.9% year on year and 9.3% from the previous month. The Far Eastern Federal District contributed 34% of total output, with its share expanding by 5 percentage points year on year.
