China issues red wave alert as Typhoon Shadel hits East China Sea

The National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center issued a red wave alert at 8 a.m. on Aug 27, saying Typhoon Shadel, the 18th of the year, would bring waves of 7-10 meters to the East China Sea from the morning of Aug 27 to the morning of Aug 28, with an orange warning for offshore waters. Waves of 4-7 meters are expected along the coast of Zhejiang, triggering a red alert for that area.
