EU coal imports from non-EU countries totaled 5.89 million tonnes in June 2026, up 43.35% year on year and 4.44% from the previous month, according to Eurostat data.
The import value reached 851 million euros ($992.8 billion), rising 49.47% year on year and 3.16% month on month.

In the first half of the year, EU coal imports amounted to 30.24 million tonnes, up 7.02% year on year, while the cumulative import value fell 1.12% to 4.22 billion euros.
Among the 27 member states, the Netherlands imported the most coal in June at 2.18 million tonnes, surging 42.9% year on year
