China's top legislature reviews budget execution report, outlines proactive fiscal policy steps

The Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress convened its 24th session on Aug 25 in Beijing, with Chairman Zhao Leji presiding. Vice Finance Minister Lin Zechang, on behalf of the State Council, delivered a report on budget execution since the start of the year, noting that fiscal policy has become more proactive and targeted, with overall stable budget execution and fiscal operations. The report outlined next steps including implementing a more proactive fiscal policy with precision, accelerating the building of a modern industrial system, safeguarding and improving people's livelihoods, strengthening risk prevention and resolution in key areas, deepening fiscal management reforms, and enhancing penetrative fiscal supervision.
