Since April 2025, the yuan has steadily appreciated against the U.S. dollar, with the central parity rate rising from 7.2 to 6.79 by mid-August 2026, a cumulative gain of 6% and a three-and-a-half-year high. Meanwhile, the CFETS yuan exchange rate index against a basket of currencies climbed from 96.2 to 102.3, rebounding 6.3% over the same period.
