India could cut about 87% of methane emissions from coking coal mines at under $20/t of CO2 equivalent, according to a report released by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis. Just 7 mines in Jharkhand account for 81% of tracked emissions, offering a rapid, cost-effective reduction chance.
