Production Most coking coal mines that cut or stopped production during the New Year holiday have resumed normal production, continuously pulling up supply. Raw coal output from 138 surveyed coking coal enterprises stood at 12.14 Mt during the reporting week, up 367.6 Kt WoW. The capacity utilization also saw a rise of 2.56 pps to 84.46%.
Price Coal sales improved and more miners lifted offer prices as purchasing demand enhanced. The online auction market was also active, with most deal concluded with higher prices. Among the surveyed mines, 42 saw price increase by 64 yuan/t, while six cut prices by 60 yuan/t on average.
Stock Most cokemakers started restocking this week, and some middlemen also restarted purchases. Coking coal sales therefore were hot, and destocking accelerated. Some mines reported their stocks were depleted. Raw coal inventories at the surveyed mines decreased by 214.5 Kt WoW to 2.38 Mt, and washed coal stocks fell by 276.3 Kt to 1.95 Mt. More coking plants restocked this week given low stockpiles and heated market sentiment. Stocks at surveyed coking plants were 6.58 days' worth of use on average, up 0.39 day WoW.
