Germany imported 1.42 million tonnes of hard coal in August 2024, falling 9.29% from the month-ago level, according to preliminary data from German Statistics Bureau.
The imports were 11.71% lower than the previous year, data showed.

The import value stood at €276 million (about $294.58 million), down 15.37% on the year and 15.87% on the month. That put the average import value at €194.38/t, down 4.14% from a year ago and 7.25% from the previous month.
In the first eight months of this year, Germany's hard coal imports totaled 13.73 million tonnes, down 23.68% on the year, with the value of imports declining 32.3% year on year to €2.87 billion.
