China, France hold 5th energy dialogue in Beijing

China and France held their fifth energy dialogue in Beijing on September 29, co-chaired by He Yang, deputy head of China's National Energy Administration, and Cedric Brier, director general of France's General Directorate for Energy and Climate.

The two sides exchanged views on energy transition, energy security and electrification policies, and discussed practical cooperation in renewable energy, energy storage, hydrogen and civil nuclear energy.

Both sides noted that China-France energy cooperation, which began with civil nuclear energy, has expanded to oil and gas, renewables, energy technology innovation and green low-carbon transition, forming a long-term stable partnership of complementary strengths and mutual benefit.

They pledged to deepen cooperation potential, innovate cooperation models and upgrade the quality of bilateral energy cooperation, injecting new momentum into the China-France comprehensive strategic partnership and contributing to global energy security and green development.

More than 40 representatives attended the dialogue, including French Ambassador to China Bertrand Lortholary, officials from China's National Energy Administration and France's General Directorate for Energy and Climate, and executives from over 10 Chinese and French energy companies including China National Nuclear Corp, Huaneng Group, Dongfang Electric, China General Nuclear Power Group, EDF, TotalEnergies, Air Liquide and Orano.
