Shanxi province held a meeting on coal safety and stable supply, urging coal mines to resume production and stabilize output while strictly adhering to safety standards, according to China Coal News. The provincial energy bureau, together with the emergency management department and the Shanxi bureau of the National Mine Safety Administration, is conducting safety assessments for coal mines. Mines that pass the assessment may produce at up to 1/12 of their designed or approved capacity per month for the remaining months before the end of December, provided that all safety hazard inspections are completed and penalties for overcapacity production since 2026 have been enforced, potentially adding 31 million tonnes of output.
