Linfen, a major coal-producing city in Shanxi, is pushing coal mines to resume production and ramp up output ahead of the winter heating season, Mayor Wang Yanfeng said at a meeting on September 27.
Wang stressed the need to balance development and safety while ensuring stable production and supply, calling for full release of coal capacity and smooth operation of the coal industry.
He urged classified and tiered resumption of idled mines and full-capacity production at operating mines, with safety assessments conducted in an orderly manner to allow qualified mines to produce more.
Wang also called for accelerating capacity approvals for advanced production, promoting construction and expansion projects, and strictly monitoring contract signing, fulfillment and pricing by coal companies.
Transport support should be strengthened by raising the railway share and ensuring smooth road transport, while reserves and peak-shaving capacity should be bolstered to guarantee emergency supply, he said.
He also urged green transition through intelligent mine construction, phasing out outdated capacity and promoting clean and efficient coal use.
A special campaign to address safety risks and hidden dangers will be carried out, with tightened supervision and accountability, Wang added.
