China's Xi meets Trump, agrees on $30 bln tariff cuts during state visit to US

Chinese President Xi Jinping made a state visit to the United States on September 23-25, during which the two heads of state held in-depth exchanges on a constructive strategic stability relationship and major international and regional issues, reaching an eight-point consensus, according to Xinhua News Agency. One point was that both leaders recognized the positive role of the China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism and the outcomes of their trade teams' talks, including establishing and advancing mechanisms such as a trade council, agreeing on reciprocal tariff reductions worth $30 billion, and extending the outcomes of the Kuala Lumpur economic and trade consultations, and instructed that these be implemented.
