Multiple coal plants will return to service within 2 wks to relieve power shortages on the Philippines' Visayas grid after system operators placed the region on red and yellow alerts again on Aug 24, local media reported. Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said TVI Unit 2 (169 MW) and KEPCO SPC Power Corp. (105 MW) will return to service within the wk, while the TVI Unit 1 (169 MW) and Cebu Energy Development Corp. Unit 1 (135 MW) will return in Sep, adding further capacity.
