OPEC said on March 20 that it expects global natural gas demand to rise to more than 91 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) by 2050, an increase of over 19 million boe/d from 2025 levels. Gas will further cement its long-term position in the global primary energy mix, largely displacing coal while supporting intermittent renewables in power generation.
