Jungar Banner, a core energy supply hub in Ordos of northern China's Inner Mongolia, has been assigned a coal supply task of 210.5 million tonnes for 2026, accounting for 51.2% of the city's total.

Long-term electricity coal contracts are key to ensuring stable energy supply. The banner is coordinating major coal producers to strictly implement national supply guarantees, maintaining stable coal production capacity toward the annual target.

At China Energy's Heidaigou open-pit mine, the country's largest surface coal mine and a core "west-to-east coal transport" base, operations are running at full capacity with enhanced safety measures to secure raw coal output.

During the peak summer demand period, the mine has optimized production scheduling despite challenging mining conditions and limited dumping space, prioritizing the operation of 12 main electric shovels daily and planning excavation positions in advance to maintain efficient truck hauling distances.

To address summer heat and heavy rainfall, the mine has established a four-dimensional supply guarantee system covering production acceleration, equipment maintenance, safety and flood prevention. Commercial coal output has already surpassed half of the annual plan.

Jungar Banner, located in eastern Ordos, has coal-bearing areas covering over 75% of its territory, with proven reserves of 58.2 billion tonnes and prospective resources of 100 billion tonnes. It hosts 129 coal mines, including 66 underground and 63 open-pit operations.

The banner's coal resources span the eastern Jungar coalfield, producing low-sulfur, high-ash long-flame coal suitable for thermal and residential use, and the western Dongsheng coalfield, yielding non-caking coal with low ash, sulfur and phosphorus content and high calorific value, known as "natural washed coal" for export and chemical applications.
