China State Railway Group said coal shipments on national railways totaled 1.22 billion tonnes in the first seven months of this year, including 813 million tonnes of power coal, with stockpiles at grid-dispatched power plants supplied by rail remaining at high levels to support peak summer electricity demand.

During January-July, national railways also deepened "head-to-head" cooperation with major grain and chemical companies, tailoring logistics solutions for individual enterprises. Grain, chemical and textile freight volumes rose 7.4%, 5.4% and 21.4% year on year respectively.

Overall, national railways delivered 2.35 billion tonnes of cargo in the first seven months, up 0.7% year on year, with average daily wagon loadings at 187,000, up 2.1%.

In intermodal transport, 165 rail-water "one-order" products were launched during the period, with 71,600 TEUs booked, boosting container rail-water volumes by 9.2% year on year. Rail-road intermodal volumes reached 294 million tonnes, up 80.9%.

Express freight trains were also expanded across major economic hubs including the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta and the Greater Bay Area.

Logistics services continued to upgrade, with 1,523 total logistics contracts signed in January-July covering 1.236 billion tonnes of contracted volume. Railway logistics financial products such as freight loans and railway freight certificates were extended to 1,072 clients, with total financing reaching 12 billion yuan.
