China late-July steel prices fall across the board

Steel prices in China's circulating market fell across the board in late July, reversing gains in the secend ten days of the month, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Rebar (Φ20mm, HRB400E) was priced at 3,123.4 yuan/t, down 26.4 yuan/t or 0.8% from the previous ten-day period, compared with a 0.1% rise in the prior period.

Wire rod (Φ8-10mm, HPB300) fell 21.8 yuan/t or 0.7% to 3,293.2 yuan/t, versus a 0.1% gain earlier. Hot-rolled coil (4.75-11.5mm, Q235) slipped 17.2 yuan/t or 0.5% to 3,288.4 yuan/t, after rising 0.1% in the previous period.

Angle steel (5#) fell 4.3 yuan/t or 0.1% to 3,441.0 yuan/t, compared with a 0.1% increase earlier.

Seamless pipe (219*6, 20#) edged down 1.5 yuan/t to 4,044.1 yuan/t in mid-July, after holding flat in the prior period. Medium plate (20mm, Q235) continued to decline, dropping 0.1% to 3,475.8 yuan/t.
