Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Institute Corp (SEPCO) has completed full-capacity grid connection of the 1.1 GW wind-solar integrated project in Hangjin Banner, officially commencing commercial operation.
The project adopts a three-dimensional development model combining solar generation, under-panel planting and desertification control, using the microclimate created by photovoltaic arrays to shade, reduce evaporation and improve sandy soil through water infiltration from panel cleaning.
Located in Hangjin Banner, Ordos city, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the project is a demonstration of integrated ecological energy development under the "Three-North" shelterbelt program, with 800 MW of solar and 300 MW of wind capacity.
Once fully operational, the project will deliver approximately 2.4 TWh of clean electricity to the grid annually, equivalent to saving 730,000 tonnes of standard coal and cutting about 2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, supporting regional energy structure optimization and green power transmission capacity.
