China's average temperature in Jul reached 23.5°C, 1.3°C above the historical average for the month and the second-highest on record, the China Meteorological Administration said at its August press conference on Aug 4. 40 national weather stations across Xinjiang, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Guangdong and Sichuan saw daily maximum temperatures hit or surpass historical extremes, it said.
