Russian coal mining company Beringpromugol produced 377,600 tonnes of the solid fuel in the first half of 2026 at its operations in the Chukotka Autonomous Area, down 52% year on year, the Department of Industry reported.

The steep decline was mainly driven by the near-complete suspension of operations during the March quarter due to a lack of an investor, with production resuming only in April. The current owner of the company, Australia's Tigers Realm Coal (TIG), is unable to conduct business in Russia due to sanctions.

Beringpromugol, which develops the Amaam and Northern Amaam deposits in the Bering Basin in the Anadyr District of the Chukotka Autonomous Area, exports the majority of its coal to countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

The mining company extracted 1.498 million tonnes of coal in 2025.
