Zimbabwe's Chamber of Mines expects the mining sector to grow at an average rate of 10% in 2026, driven by higher production and firm international commodity prices, according to a report published on the Herald website on July 31. Mineral exports are projected to rise to $11 billion from $8.5 billion in 2025, with gold output up 12%, platinum group metals up 9%, coal up 21%, diamonds up 29%, chrome up 64% and lithium up 112%. In 2025, mining accounted for 81% of Zimbabwe's total exports, 17.4% of GDP and contributed roughly 20% of government tax revenue.
