China's State Grid sees record power loads in multiple regions as heatwave persists

State Grid Corp of China reported record-high electricity loads across multiple regions under its coverage from July 27-31, as widespread high temperatures drove up demand. Five provincial-level grids — Tianjin, Hebei's northern area, Jiangsu, Liaoning and Inner Mongolia's eastern area — along with two regional grids in north and northeast China, all hit new peaks during the period. The company said it is leveraging its cross-provincial and cross-regional transmission corridors to balance supply and demand, while implementing 24 work measures across six key areas to ensure stable grid operations and reliable power supply during the summer peak season.
