China Energy Investment Corp (CHN Energy) connected its 1 GW solar project in Xinjiang to the grid on July 28, marking a milestone for the company's clean energy base in the Kaidu River basin.

The project, comprising three sub-projects of 150 MW, 250 MW and 600 MW in Hejing, Yanqi and Bohu counties, includes a 167.5 MW/335 MWh energy storage station. It is expected to generate about 1.8 TWh of electricity annually.

The full-capacity grid connection strengthens the integration of hydropower, solar, wind, pumped storage and energy storage in the Kaidu River basin, supporting the construction of a new power system in southern Xinjiang and optimizing the region's energy mix.
