Mongolian Mining Q2 raw coking coal output falls QoQ, rises YoY

Mongolian Mining Corporation (MMC) and its subsidiaries reported second-quarter 2026 raw coking coal production of 4.42 million tonnes, down 9% from the previous quarter but up 29% from a year earlier, according to the company's latest quarterly report.

Raw coking coal processed totaled 4.51 million tonnes, up 25% year on year and 15% quarter on quarter. Washed coking coal output reached 2.81 million tonnes, rising 29% from a year earlier and 24% from the prior quarter. Washed coking coal sales stood at 2.69 million tonnes, up 55% year on year and 5% quarter on quarter.

MMC is Mongolia's largest producer and exporter of washed coking coal. Its wholly owned subsidiary Energy Resources LLC operates the Ukhaa Khudag (UHG) coking coal mine, while its 80%-owned Khangad Exploration LLC runs the Baruun Naran (BN) coking coal mine, both located in the Umnugobi aimag of Mongolia.

Beyond coking coal, the group's operations also cover gold, silver, copper and other non-ferrous metals. MMC holds a 50% stake in Erdene Mongol LLC, which owns and operates the Bayan Khundii (BKH) gold mine in Bayankhongor province.

The group also holds a 50.5% stake in Universal Copper LLC, which develops the White Hill copper deposit and the Urkhut silver deposit, also in Bayankhongor province.
