China's Ministry of Natural Resources held a symposium on July 20, stressing the need to strengthen science and technology innovation to safeguard national energy and resource security, and to push forward a new round of strategic mineral exploration breakthroughs. The ministry called for advancing deep-earth, deep-sea and deep-space technology projects, improving research coordination mechanisms, and leveraging high-level basic research to drive new quality productive forces in the natural resources sector.
