China's top economic official Zheng Shijie, chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), chaired a symposium with private enterprises on July 20, stressing that strong economic work in the second half is critical to meeting annual growth targets. The NDRC will integrate existing and incremental policies to cultivate new consumption growth drivers, advance major projects under the 15th "Five-Year Plan", and accelerate the transition between old and new growth engines, according to a statement. The commission also pledged to implement a "rule-of-law safeguard for the private economy" initiative, accelerate supporting regulations for the private economy promotion law, and enhance multi-tiered regular communication mechanisms with private firms to foster high-quality development.
