Poland's top coking coal producer Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa (JSW) saw its coal output drop 3.3% year on year and 0.3% quarter on quarter to 3.23 million tonnes in the second quarter (Q2), according to the firm's latest operational report.

The miner's Q2 coking coal output fell 2.1% year on year and 0.7% on the quarter to 2.76 million tonnes, while coke production declined 5.6% on the year and 10.6% on the quarter to 670,000 tonnes.

In Q2, JSW's total coal sales stood at 2.97 million tonnes, up 1% quarter on quarter but down 1% year on year. Coking coal sales fell 3.2% on the quarter and 8% on the year to 2.41 million tonnes, with external customers accounting for roughly 69% of total coking coal sales. Coke sales dropped 10.4% quarter on quarter and 6.7% year on year to 690,000 tonnes.

The average selling price of JSW's coking coal for external clients reached 767.40 zlotys per tonne ($202.19/t) in Q2, rising 6.2% quarter on quarter and 12.4% year on year.

In contrast, JSW saw robust production growth in Q1 2026, with total coal output climbing 13.1% year on year to 3.24 million tonnes and coking coal production surging nearly 20% on the year to 2.78 million tonnes.

Looking ahead, the miner has revised down its full-year 2026 coal production forecast to 13.3 million tonnes, from the previous 13.5 million tonnes projected last November, mainly due to operational delays at one of its core mines.
