China's independent coke producers churned out 32.01 million tonnes of the steelmaking material in October 2025, flat from the year-ago level, according to data released by the China Coking Industry Association (CCIA).

The production accounted for 76.4% of the country's total coke output, which rose 1.5% from a year earlier to 41.90 million tonnes in September.

Coke output from steel firms' captive coking plants was registered at 9.89 million tonnes during the month, rising 6.7% from the preceding year.

For the first ten months, coke output from independent coking plants reached 321.59 million tonnes, a 2.8% rise year on year. This volume accounted for 76.7% of China's total coke production, which was 419.06 million tonnes, climbing 3.3% from the year prior.

Coke output of captive firms grew 4.9% on the year to 97.47 million tonnes from January to October, the CCIA data showed.

Coke output of member firms of the CCIA totaled 21.31 million tonnes in October, down 1.69% from the year before.
