Russian coal exports rose 13% YoY in Nov, yet headwind looms

Russian coal exports rose 13% YoY to 17.5 Mt in Nov 2025, driven by Chinese and South Korean demand, according to a report from the Price Index Center cited by Kommersant. However, analysts warned of softening prospects as domestic supply grows in Asia and logistical bottlenecks emerge. Exports to India and via Far Eastern ports fell sharply. Prices for thermal coal have dropped 11% since mid-Nov, and further pressure is expected in early 2026.
