Mainland China supplies over 5.08 TWh of electricity to Macau in Jan-Nov

Mainland China delivered 5.08 TWh of electricity to Macau in the first eleven months of 2025, with an estimated total of 5.35 TWh by the end of the year, showed data from the China Southern Power Grid (CSG).

The total electricity supply from mainland China to Macau surpassed 81.3 TWh as of December 17, data showed.

The combined power transition in 2025 marks an incredible 28.5 times the electricity supplied in 1999 and 213.9 times the amount delivered during the initial Guangdong-Macau interconnected power grid in 1984.

Currently, about 90% of Macau's total electricity consumption is supplied by CSG. CSG has been committed to ensuring a reliable power supply for Macau as part of its responsibility in supporting the One Country, Two Systems framework.

The company worked to build a robust energy and power security system to support the economic diversification and long-term prosperity of Macau. In Zhuhai, Guangdong, the company is advancing a grid framework, with a maximum transmission capacity of 1.7 GW.

The 220 kV power transmission and transformation project is expected to be completed by the end of the year, adding a 160 Mvar high-voltage reactor to the grid. This will enrich the resources and methods for voltage regulation in the Guangdong-Macau interconnected network.
