China's 2025 mid and long-term coal contracts signed exceed 1.2 Bt

Chinese coal miners have signed 1.2 billion tonnes of medium- and long-term supply contracts for 2025, Xinhua News Agency reported, citing the National Coal Trading Center on December 27.

China has entered the stage of coal transportation capacity allocation, laying a solid foundation for stabilizing the basic coal supply next year and promoting stable development of the coal market.

Nearly 100 enterprises from the fields of coal, electricity, steel, ports, logistics and other fields across the country signed mid- and long-term contracts of 1.23 billion tonnes, equivalent to about 1/4 of China's annual coal production.

China State Railway Corporation reached a general logistics package contract with key customers on 440 million tonnes of coal transportation, up 35 million tonnes year on year, and locked in 520 million tonnes of transportation volume for key coal transportation channels.

The mid- and long-term contracts have promoted collaborative cooperation, strengthened the guarantee of coal railway transportation capacity, and laid a good foundation for national coal energy security in 2025, the report said.

At present, China's coal production and inventory are relatively sufficient, and the market supply and demand are generally balanced, according to the head of the National Coal Trading Center.

The government has been working to ensure energy security, enhancing the supply guarantee capability, and paying attention to the bottom-line guarantee role of coal and coal-fired power in 2025.

Meanwhile, China will continue to promote the optimization and adjustment of the energy structure, and achieve new results in the green and low-carbon transformation of energy, according to the National Energy Administration.
