Germany installed 1.01 GW of photovoltaic (PV) capacity in November, marking the second-lowest monthly volume in 2024, only surpassing the 972 MW recorded in August, according to Germany's Federal Network Agency.
The country's installed capacity included 548.8 MW from rooftop PV projects and 348.6 MW from ground-mounted PV projects, supported by the Renewable Energy Act (EEG). Despite subsequent data adjustments, the figure was significantly lower than the 1.42 GW in November 2023 and the 1.60 GW installed in October.
In addition, Germany added 458.8 MW of onshore wind power capacity and 4.5 MW of biomass capacity.
In January-November, Germany's total installed PV capacity reached 14.53 GW, bringing the country's overall capacity to 97.55 GW. The country is expected to add 16.1 GW of PV capacity in 2024, continuing to lead the EU market, according to the EU Market Outlook for Solar Power 2024-2028 by SolarPower Europe.
Look ahead, with Germany's general election scheduled for February 2, 2025, insiders predict that renewable energy policies will take a more defined direction.
