Inner Mongolia's installed new energy capacity exceeds 120 GW

Northern China's Inner Mongolia has seen its installed new energy capacity exceed 120 GW, following the completion and grid connection of a 1-GW photovoltaic project in Alxa, Xinhua News Agency reported.

So far, the installed capacity of new energy in Inner Mongolia has surpassed that of thermal power at 117 GW. Coupled with hydropower and other power projects, total installed power capacity has reached 240 GW in Inner Mongolia, ranking first in the country, according to the report.

Inner Mongolia has been actively optimizing its new energy project development this year by refining project layouts, proactively planning grid access, streamlining project procedures, and strengthening project management throughout the entire process, Wang Min, director of the new energy department of the region's energy bureau, was cited as saying.

Furthermore, the region has implemented regular project reviews, promptly canceling projects that fail to meet construction requirements and balancing commissioning schedules to ensure efficient development of new energy power generation projects, Wang said.

At present, Inner Mongolia's grid-connected new energy installed capacity can generate 270 TWh of green electricity each year, which is equivalent to saving 84 million tonnes of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 220 million tonnes.
