China Putian port's coal imports hit record high

Putian port in southeastern China's Fujian province imported over 22 million tonnes of coal so far this year, exceeding total imports of last year and hitting a record high, according to Putian customs statistics.

In order to ensure the supply of imported coal effectively, Putian Customs optimized the supervision and service mechanism, arranged special personnel to connect with coal enterprises, understood the import plans of enterprises in advance, and formulated supervision plans for each ship.

The authority combined the actual situation of the port and the characteristics of bulk cargo, strengthened the use of intelligent facilities and equipment, realized the import coal sampling while unloading, and improved the supervision efficiency continuously.

Putian Customs not only tightened checks to ensure the quality and safety of imported coal, but also adhere to preferential policies to reduce the customs clearance costs of enterprises.

The number of imported coal ships berthing at SDIC Meizhou Bay port has increased this year compared with previous years . Meanwhile, with the arrival of winter, the demand for coal from downstream power plants has also been increasing, which may further tighten port berths and terminal yards capacity.
