The supply index of coal to power plants monitored by the China Electricity Council (67% of China's total installed coal power capacity) dropped 0.78 WoW to 50.51 during Dec 5-13, at the expansionary territory and indicating power coal supply extended the increase with a contracted growth. The demand index was up 2.02 WoW to 51.59, rising to the expansionary zone after 3 wks at the contractionary zone and suggesting demand reversed decline to increase. Inventory index was down 0.80 WoW at 48.98, at the contractionary zone for the 2nd wk and suggesting power coal stocks decreased further with a larger rate. Coal price index slid 0.79 WoW to 44.51, at the contractionary territory for the 10th wk and suggesting prices continued to drop at a faster pace, CEC data showed.
