China Jan-Nov coke, crude steel & pig iron output keep declining; steel products rise

China's production of coke, crude steel and pig iron over January-November period continued year-on-year downtrend, while finished steel output maintained increases, showed data from the National Bureau of Statistics on December 16.

China produced 446.71 million tonnes of coke during the first eleven months, down 0.9% year on year. The output in November was 40.68 million tonnes, down 1.3% month on month yet up 0.6% from the year earlier. The daily coke production was calculated at 1.36 million tonnes during the month, up 2% from October.

Pig iron output stood at 782.77 million tonnes from January to November, down 3.5% year on year. November's figure came in at 67.48 million tonnes, down 4% on the month but up 3.9% from the year before. The daily pig iron output was calculated at 2.25 million tonnes, falling 0.8% from the previous month.

Crude steel output stood at 929.19 million tonnes, a year-on-year decrease of 2.7%. The production in November was 78.4 million tonnes, decreasing 4.3% from a month ago but up 2.5% from a year ago. The average daily crude steel output grew 2.61% from October to 2.61 million tonnes.

Finished steel production ticked up 0.9% year on year to 1.28 billion tonnes over January-November. The output in November dropped 0.5% month on month but rose 5.1% year on year to 118.81 million tonnes. That put the average daily output to 3.96 million tonnes, up 2.8% from a month ago, NBS data showed.
