The first phase of the grid-connected power generation was completed for the largest open-pit mine earthworks photovoltaic project in China on Dec 25, known as the National Energy Investment Renewable Energy Replacement Project 300 MW Photovoltaic project, as reported by state media CCTV. Situated in the Baiyinhua earthworks area of Xilingol League and spanning around 8,331.3 acres, the project can supply 4.5 TWh of green electricity annually once fully operational, equivalent to saving 135-Kt standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 372 Kt, thereby further optimizing the layout of the energy industry structure.
