Vietnam's coal imports (including those from foreign-invested enterprises) in November posted a strong rebound and reached a three-month high, preliminary customs data showed.

The country imported 4.98 million tonnes of coal during the month, jumping 112.05% from 2.35 million tonnes a year ago and up 37.7% from October's 3.62 million tonnes, data showed.

The data revealed that Vietnam's coal import value in November amounted to $688 million, increasing 59.06% year on year and 38.94% month on month.

Indonesia was the top supplier in the month, delivering 1.89 million tonnes, surging 180% from a year earlier and up 34.46% on the month. Vietnam imported 1.57 million tonnes of coal from Australia, rising 14.15% on the year and 7.62% month on month.

Russia delivered 729,800 tonnes of coal to Vietnam, way higher than 74,800 tonnes a year ago and 180,700 tonnes in October 2023.

In the first eleven months of 2023, Vietnam's accumulated coal imports were 46.35 million tonnes, showing a notable 59.29% increase from the preceding year.

Total value came in at $6.55 billion during the given period, down 1.51% on the year.
