Newcastle port, the world's largest coal port located in Australia's New South Wales, saw coal exports register a year-on-year growth of over 30% in November despite a marginal decline from a month ago, Port of Newcastle data showed.

The port exported 12.87 million tonnes during the month, rising 36.37% on the year but dipping 0.66% month on month.

The exports amounted to A$2.60 billion ($1.7 billion), down 45.84% year on year and 16.18% month on month, the data showed. That put the average export price at A$201.79/t, lower than A$508.04/t from a year earlier and A$239.14/t from the previous month.

Cumulatively, Newcastle port exported a total 130 million tonnes of coal in January-November, a 5.56% rise from the year before. The export earnings totaled A$35.26 billion, down 35.26% on the year.

In November, the number of coal ships loaded at Newcastle port was 142, up 3 from the previous month. The cumulative number of coal ships loaded in January-November came in at 1,459.
