Coal stockpiles at 58 power plants directly supplied by China Railway Shenyang Corporation (CR Shenyang) totaled 9.87 million tonnes as of December 4, equivalent to 26 days of use, highlighting sufficient stocks as winter heating demand rises.

From November 1 to December 4, CR Shenyang delivered nearly 14 million tonnes of coal to these power plants, ensuring stable supplies to cover the growing demand.

Coal inventories and daily burns at these plants have been closely monitored, the railway operator said. Special attention was being paid to those experiencing tightness.

"Stockpile monitoring and coordination between mines and power plants will help ensure energy security as temperatures drop," it said.

CR Shenyang said it signed cooperation pacts with 15 top coal producers to balance supply and demand during peak transport periods into the winter.

A "green channel" prioritizing coal trains has been established, striving for early acceptance, early allocation of rail cars, early loading, early dispatch and unloading, it said.

Mounting winter heating needs in northern China have increased pressure on coal transportation. CR Shenyang has taken measures to optimize operations and accelerate cargo flows across the region.
