China has approved totaling 12.40 million tonnes per annum of coal production capacity in eastern Gansu province, state media CCTV reported.
Following the approval of the 2.4-Mtpa Shaozhai coal mine and 5-Mtpa Anjiazhuang coal mine, Lingtai county in Gansu has now received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission for the Tangjiahe coal mine.
The project is designed with a capacity of 5 Mtpa and includes the construction of a coal washing plant of the same capacity. The total investment is projected to be 7.50 billion yuan (excluding mining right fee).
Construction of the project is slated to start in the first half of 2024, according to CCTV.
As a key component of the Huanglong coal base, Lingtai county possesses 5.02 billion tonnes of proven coal reserves, with anticipated geological reserves exceeding 20 billion tonnes.
Huanglong coal base is one of the country's 14 key national coal-mining bases announced by the government at the end of 2016.
