Australia's Centennial Q4 output up 14 pct

Australian takeover target Centennial coal Ltd posted on Jul 27 a 14 percent jump in its fourth quarter production, thanks to a strong performance at its key mines.

Centennial, which produces both thermal and coking coal, said its share of production for the three months ended Jun 30 was 3.64 million tonnes, bringing full-year output to 14.2 million tonnes.

Lured by Centennial's large reserves of high-quality coal, Thailand's Banpu Public Co Ltd last month mounted a $2.15 billion takeover for the Australian miner and offered shareholders A$6.20 for each share.

Centennial's board has recommended the offer. Its shares closed at A$5.99 on Jul 27.
