Coal shipped out of SDIC Caofeidian, the main coal transferring port in northern China, declined at a high pace last week on the back of 25-hour closure of navigation.
The shipment totaled 725,000 tonnes in the week ended Jul 25, falling 23% from a week earlier at 950,000 tonnes, averaging 103,000 tonnes each day.
Meanwhile, rail coal transports were 864,000 tonnes in Jul 19-25, data show.
As a result, coal stockpiled at SDIC Caofeidian port rose to 2.10 million tonnes in the same period, putting pressure on the port.
As of Jul 26, the port had 2.06 million tonnes of coal in stock, and 15 vessels waiting off the berth, another 4 expected.
