The company was founded in 1999, but the founder and staff members have many more years experience in the industry, some nearly 40 years. Fenwei is an ISO-9000 certified limited, and offers consulting services for the coal and coking coal industries. It is the premiere consulting service provider for the coal industry in Shanxi Province and is also very knowledgeable about the coal and coking coal markets around China. Fenwei has provided consulting services for multinational corporations such as the World Bank, BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, CVRD, just to name a few, as well as many others.

1982 --- Bachelor graduate from Shanxi Mining College;
1997 --- Master Graduate from China People's University;
1982-1989 --- Working in coal project evaluation, design and construction in the Basic Construction Department of Shanxi Coal Industry Bureau;
1989-1998 --- Vice general manager of Shanxi Jinmei Co., Ltd, and general manager of Fuyuan Clean Coal Company, a Sino-foreign joint venture. During this period, he used coal briquette to produce superfine foundry coke by level sliding layer and blending with anthracite fines for the first time, which was popularized quickly. He also was the first one to sell coking coal produced by Shanxi local coalmines to large steel enterprises in northeast China, including Anshan Steel and Benxi Steel, and signed the first sales contract specifying quality-based rewards and punishment terms with Anshan Steel.
1994 --- Fuyuan Company exported three ships of coking coal to India, the first time China's coking coal entering into the Indian market.
1998 --- Marketing Manger of the Taiyuan Office of Asian American Coal Inc.
Mr Chang has published more than 20 articles in national or provincial publication. Of which, On Shanxi Coal Development and Environment Quality was awarded the Youth Science & Technology Paper Award for Youth; Local Coal Processing and Utilization to Lay the Foundation for Shanxi's Economic Growth was awarded in Shanxi Socialism Seminar; On the Fundamental Changes of Shanxi Coal Industry was awarded in Second Session of Coal Industry Association; Shanxi Coal Processing and Utilization –Current Situation and Development Strategy was granted the Award for Science & Technology Advancement.

Mr. Mao has over 35 years of diversified experience in international trade, corporate finance/investment banking, and engineering/construction/environmental consulting in the electric utility and energy industry. He is President and Chief Executive Officer of Hysen International, a U.S. company engaged in international trade and investments in the China market in coal and coal-related businesses, corporate finance and project financing.
Mr. Mao was born and raised in Shanghai, completed secondary school in Hong Kong and attained his university and post-graduate degrees in the United States. He is fluent in three dialects of Chinese: Shanghainese, Cantonese and Putonghua (Mandarin). He received his bachelor's and master's degree of civil engineering from Cornell University and completed additional post-graduate studies at Harvard University.
In the area of corporate finance and merchant banking, over a period of 15 years, Mr. Mao held the position as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chartwell & Co of New York and Los Angeles. Chartwell represented emerging growth companies seeking capital through IPO's, debt and equity financing, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures; managed investor relations with market markers, institutions, and Wall Street money managers; structured, negotiated, and closed transactions.
In the area of engineering and construction of power and energy facilities, Mr. Mao was Woodward-Clyde's Officer-in-Charge of the electric utility industry to provide consulting services associated with the site-safety, geotechnical and environmental licensing, engineering and construction of coal-fired power plants, nuclear power, pumped-storage hydroelectric and other energy facilities in the United States. He is also credited as the co-founder of Woodward-Clyde's environmental practice, building it from a 5-person start-up to nearly 1000 professionals at the time he left the firm, establishing Woodward-Clyde as one of the premier multi-disciplinary, environmental consulting firm in the United States.
